Indoor LED displays systems are used mainly for the events and television markets but also can be found on the world hottest retail stores and clubs. Indoor LED displays systems offer true to life color and are built based on our patent pending "Combi-Chip" LED array allowing for life like picture both by the naked eye and through a camera. The LED displays industry began with the use of waterproof LED displays using 5mm oval lamps.
Those Lamps have provided high brightness and a relative ease of design and manufacturing , but , however , had some major downsides – relatively low resolutions (due to the pixel formation) and single color per led leading to "blurred" image in close distances.
Those two drawbacks lead to a single design problem, and that is the use of the 5mm oval LED lamps.
The first step LED manufacturers have taken in order to solve that problem was the move to 3mm oval led lamps, which have not solved the problem but reduced it somewhat. Still resolutions were and still are usually limited to a physical 10mm pitch and viewing distance is still restricted for around 7m and above.
Trying to solve the inherent problems with Oval led's manufacturers have began to adopt SMD (Surface Mount Device) LED lamps.
SMD Lamps offer some major advantages:
- Full color (3 dices RGB In a single package)
- Small size (3X3mm per full color LED)
- Fast assembly (Connection is done on an SMT machine)
- Lower cost per pixel compared to oval LED
SMD Lamps also have some inherited disadvantages:
- Lower Brightness Compared to oval LED's.
- Higher Heat per output
- Extremely hard to waterproof (impossible on 3X3mm led's, possible on 5X5mm led's).
Due to the lower brightness and hardship to waterproof those SMD displays are used mostly for high resolution displays in indoor locations and therefore the nickname "INDOOR DISPLAYS".
In comparison to outdoor displays, indoor led displays offer 5-20 times more pixels per square meter and offer a much higher image quality.
Indoor LED displays, combined with the Full color packaging the picture can be viewed from very close distances and have became extremely popular in television studios and other productions. Indoor led displays market start from 10mm (10,000 pixels per sqm) and raise up to 3mm pixel pitch (111,100 pixels per square meter) , compared with a standard ph20 mm outdoor 2,500 pixels per square meter it is easy to comprehend the enhanced picture quality.
